Everything you need to know about PrintTiler
PrintTiler is a macOS application designed to split large images into multiple printable pages. It's perfect for printing posters, maps, blueprints, banners, and any oversized image using your regular home or office printer.
PrintTiler supports all common formats including PNG, JPEG, TIFF, PDF, BMP, GIF, and HEIC. Simply drag and drop or select your file to get started.
There are two ways to import an image: Click the "Select Image" button to browse your files, or drag and drop an image file directly into the app window.
PrintTiler supports a wide range of paper sizes: A-series (A3, A4, A5, A6), B-series (B4, B5), US sizes (Letter, Legal, Executive, Statement, Tabloid), photo sizes (4×6, 5×7, 8×10), envelopes (C5, #10, DL, Monarch), and custom sizes.
Select "Custom" from the Page Size dropdown, then enter your desired width and height. You can input values in millimeters or inches depending on your unit preference.
Portrait orientation prints with the shorter edge at the top (vertical), while landscape prints with the longer edge at the top (horizontal). Choose based on your image shape and how you want to display it.
No Scale mode prints your image at its original size without any resizing. The image is placed on pages as-is, which may result in multiple pages depending on the image dimensions.
Fit Width scales your image so its width exactly matches the page width. The image will be one page wide and may span multiple pages vertically.
Fit Height scales your image so its height exactly matches the page height. The image will be one page tall and may span multiple pages horizontally.
Custom Fit lets you manually specify how many pages wide and tall you want your print to be. You can lock the aspect ratio to prevent stretching, or unlock it to fill the exact grid you specify.
By default, aspect ratio is locked (shown by a lock icon). This ensures your image isn't stretched. Click the lock icon to unlock if you want to fill the exact page grid.
Use the transform controls in the Layout section. Click the rotate buttons to rotate 90° left or right. Use the flip buttons to mirror the image horizontally or vertically.
Use the 3×3 alignment grid in the Layout section. Click any position (top-left, center, bottom-right, etc.) to place your image at that position on the page grid.
Go to Settings (from the app menu) and select your preferred language. PrintTiler supports 12 languages. A restart may be required for the change to take effect.
Go to Settings and choose between Metric (millimeters) or Imperial (inches). This affects how paper sizes and custom dimensions are displayed.
PrintTiler offers four resolution options: <strong>Original</strong> (uses your image's native DPI), <strong>Standard</strong> (150 DPI, good for posters viewed from a distance), <strong>High</strong> (300 DPI, professional quality), and <strong>Custom</strong> (set your own DPI value).
